Hello West Coast RC Fliers,
Hopefully everyone is enjoying the amazing weather we’ve been having! We have a few updates we’d like to share with you.
First, we need your help on Saturday, May 2nd, starting at 8:30 AM. The runway will be temporarily closed while we replace a section of it. To get this done efficiently, we’re asking for volunteers—the more people we have, the faster and easier the job will be. If you can, please come out and lend a hand. Bringing a hammer and a small crowbar would be greatly appreciated.
Once the work is completed, the field will reopen. We’ll also be hosting a free BBQ and providing drinks for everyone who helps out. If you plan to attend, please RSVP to 2wheeljim@gmail.com.
We also need to repair the roof of the container box. With that being said, sometime this fall we will need everyone to take all of your RC items—planes, transmitters, etc.—home for about a week or two while we make these repairs.
Once we have a solid date set, we will let everyone know ahead of time so everyone has time to plan.
Thank you all for your help and cooperation.
Now for the fun stuff! The Fun Fly will be held on Saturday, August 8th. We’ve added a brand-new event, but we’re not quite ready to spill the beans on what it is yet! We’ve also made some adjustments to other events to help make the competition more balanced for everyone.
Prize payouts for pilots will be:
1st Place: $200
2nd Place: $100
3rd Place: $50
4th Place: $25
The raffle format is also changing this year. Each prize will have its own box, allowing you to place your tickets toward the items you really want. This will greatly increase your chances of winning something you’re excited about.
Lastly, we’ll be hosting our Fall Fly-Off again in late October. This is a fun, relaxed day for everyone to come out, fly, and enjoy free pizza and drinks provided by the club. We’ll share the exact date soon.
We hope this message finds you all well, and we look forward to seeing you at the field!
